Best Practices for Aligner Manufacturing: Fitment Issues, Files, and Materials

Precision in manufacturing is not just crucial, but also crucial when it comes to clear aligners and retainers. Patient satisfaction and treatment results can be significantly impacted by even minor variations in fitting or digital file management. To guarantee that every aligner and retainer satisfies the highest levels of quality, durability, and precision, Quiteclear adheres to stringent manufacturing criteria and rules.

This blog explains our Terms of Manufacturing in simple, practical language covering fitment issues, file submissions, material choices, and what’s included (or not) under warranty. By understanding these terms, dental professionals can place orders with confidence, avoid common errors, and provide their patients with the best possible experience.

Why Manufacturing Terms Matter?

Clear aligners and retainers are highly customized medical devices. Even the smallest variation in design, fit, or material can disrupt a patient’s treatment progress and overall comfort. That’s why having well-defined manufacturing terms is essential. These terms act as a framework to ensure accuracy, accountability, and transparency at every step from digital file submission to the final aligner or retainer delivery. By following them, practitioners can clearly understand what is required, what is covered, and what steps need to be taken if adjustments are necessary.

For patients, this means smoother treatments and fewer interruptions. For clinics, it helps maintain consistent communication with Quiteclear, avoids unnecessary remakes, and ensures that each aligner or retainer is manufactured to the highest standard. In short, manufacturing terms protect everyone involved and make the treatment journey more efficient and reliable.

Terms of Manufacturing

At Quiteclear, every aligner and retainer is manufactured with precision and in line with the files provided. To maintain quality and ensure smooth processes, we follow certain manufacturing terms. Below are the key guidelines:

Fitment Issues: In rare cases where a new aligner or retainer does not fit correctly, it will be remanufactured and compared with the original model used for initial production. If the new device is found to be interchangeable with the old one, mandatory intraoral pictures from different angles, along with a clear top view showing the stage number, must be provided to verify the fitment issue.

The first remanufactured aligner/retainer will be free of charge if the issue is confirmed as a manufacturing error and the same material is used.

If a material change is requested, only the price difference for the upgraded material will be charged.

If the remanufactured aligner/retainer still does not fit, a mandatory rescan will be required for further manufacturing.

All remanufacturing requests must be placed via the Quiteclear dashboard.

Retainers without Attachments: Digital files must be submitted without attachments when placing an attachment-free retainer order. Quiteclear can manufacture the retainer and digitally delete the attachments upon request; however, we can not assume responsibility for any fitment problems that may result from this procedure. Remakes in these situations will cost money and call for a fresh scan.

Adherence to Attached Files: Strict adherence to the files linked to the order on the dashboard guides the manufacturing process. Orders that are incorrect or incomplete and do not have the appropriate files attached will not be approved. This guarantees each order’s correctness and responsibility.

Wear and Tear: Aligners and retainers are subject to normal wear and tear during daily use, and any breakages caused by this are not covered under manufacturing terms. Quiteclear guarantees that every product is manufactured using the exact brand of material chosen at the time of order. Practitioners should carefully select materials based on case complexity and intended use (aligner or retainer) to avoid issues later.

Best Practices for Practitioners

To make the most of Quiteclear’s manufacturing process and ensure smooth treatment journeys for patients, practitioners are encouraged to follow a few simple but important best practices:

Double-check files before submitting orders:  The correct digital files are the first step toward accuracy. Before submitting a scan, make sure the files are error free, the scans do not have any broken meshes, are labeled correctly and attached to the order. Production delays or mismatches may arise from incomplete or inaccurate files.

Select material carefully based on the patient’s case: Every substance has advantages of its own. Before choosing the material, take into account the complexity of the case, the length of the treatment, and whether the device is a retainer or an aligner. Making the proper choice now avoids needless remakes later.

Capture clear intraoral pictures for fitment issues: When reporting fitment problems, high-quality images are critical. Take pictures/video from multiple angles and ensure that the area from where the aligner aren’t fitting is clearly visible . This helps the manufacturing team verify issues quickly and accurately.

Use the dashboard for all remake requests and tracking: The Quiteclear dashboard is designed to streamline communication, order placement, and remanufacturing requests. Using it consistently reduces errors, ensures accountability, and keeps every case well-documented.

By following these practices, practitioners can minimize delays, improve patient satisfaction, and ensure every aligner or retainer is delivered with the precision that Quiteclear promises.

Clear aligner and retainer treatments rely on accuracy, precision, and consistency at every step. Quiteclear’s manufacturing terms are designed not only to protect quality standards but also to ensure smooth communication between practitioners and our team. By understanding these guidelines and following best practices, clinics can minimize errors, save time, and deliver better outcomes for their patients.
